Additional Special Education Resources

With this being the last week of the blog before school ends for the year. I have decided to add one last list of resources for both teachers and parents. This link below contains a curated list of special education resources and edtech products to support learners with disabilities in a distance learning context. Websites to Assist Parents of Students with Disabilities

As a parent of a child with a disability myself, I know the difficulty that COVID-19 is causing. The ability to find resources is a daunting task that has had me up late at night. While the links below are not comprehensive and the only ones available, they are a good start. Many of these sites are also great resources for other sources and are not merely limited to the category in which they are found. If you are a parent with multiple special-needs children, you may find ChildrenWithSpecialNeeds.Com useful as it has information regarding just about any type of condition out there. What makes it remarkable is that it is run by parents, for parents. This site has several different areas of interest, including a large section on web links in easy to view categories. Autism AutismNow.Org is hands down one of the best online resources for information on Autism. It includes latest news, information, an easy to use search engine, upcoming events, and even a local agencies map

Using Google Extensions for Reading

Here is a video to help students with reading difficulty access online material. CLICK HERE Within this video, you are shown how to add a google extension to add the option for the material to be read to your student. This is great for students that may have difficult reading the material. As you may see there are several options in the Google Extension to choose from.
